Meet the author

Gina Waggott is a writer and former TV professional with a background spanning broadcasting, journalism, and disability advocacy. Her work has been published in The Times, The Sunday Times, Reader’s Digest, Significance Magazine, and over a hundred websites. She is a person who stutters, and is active in several nonprofits serving the global stuttering community and its allies.

Gina was a production manager and co-ordinator at the BBC for over ten years, where she worked on BAFTA-nominated science, nature and factual entertainment series, and later freelanced for Channel 4 and Discovery. She conducted several exclusive music interviews for BBC news, including the UK’s last known interview with the late singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen, with whom she became good friends. Her debut book is the authorized biography of stuttering popstar Scatman John: The Remarkable Story of the World’s Unlikeliest Popstar, out in the USA, UK, and other English-speaking countries on 5th February 2026.
